![]() ![]() Park and Seo try to question Baek in a chase, but Beak is killed by an oncoming train when trying to run. Baek swings a board into Cho's leg, piercing it with a rusty nail and infecting Cho with tetanus, leading to his leg needing amputation. Park goes to the restaurant Baek's father runs, only to see Cho drunk and getting into bar fights with everyone there over police hatred as they hear about the investigation's lack of conduct and procedure over the news. Baek's confession is heard once again, and Detective Park realized he knows details of one of the earlier murders, not because he's the killer, but a witness. Cho beats him in a fit of rage, leaving him barred out of the room. When they fail to save another woman who's raped and killed, they find peach pieces in her digestive tract, which, along with other leads, lead to factory man Park Hyeon-gyu. This leads a sexual deviant found masturbating into women's lingerie at one crime scene cleared as well. Eon Deok-nyeo escaped from the killer in an attempt on her life, and she gave the testimony of remembering the killer having softer hands. Baek Kwang-ho, an intellectually challenged boy, is found and beaten into a confession, but Seo finds out he's too physically weak and scarred to be as brutal as the murders are. Several suspects are eliminated throughout the course of the investigation and the serial crimes. Even Park's intuition from his "shaman" eyes, where he alleges he "sees" guilt form eye contact, isn't enough for the investigation. Seo's horrified to find out the investigation was handled nightmarishly, with evidence being handled haphazardly, no leads or witnesses from the killer's stealth MO, and mandated police brutality, with Cho regularly beating confessions out of suspects, often with Park's approval and even orders. Park Doo-man and Cho Yong-koo were the detectives assigned to the case, Seo Tae-yoon a detective on lease from Seoul to assist in the investigation. it was realized to be serial as more women started to die, especially by the signatures that were found. Two women at first were killed and connected by the same killer when the murders began. A glaring, in-your-face signature found by Officer Kwon Kwi-ok was also that a local radio station received the request of of the same song each night a murder was committed. They were left dead off roads and in fields still bound in their clothes, their heads often covered. They were tied and gagged with their clothes, brutally raped, and then strangled with their clothes to murder them. Each woman and girl were blitz-attacked at night, in the rain, while wearing red clothes. There were several notorious commonalities with the murders noticed as the investigation continued. Women and girls in a Korean city were being raped and murdered starting in October 1986. Amidst police brutality in the investigation and DNA tests done by the USA when sent by the local authorities, there was much panic, chaos, and outrage trying to find the killer, but all suspects were cleared, and the killer was never found. The killer would rape and murder women with ritualistic consistencies, including a signature of tying them in their own clothes. In a 2003 commentary included on our Memories edition, Kim exclaims, “I was beat up by the Foul King!” referencing Song’s star-making role in the 2000 film of the same name.The Memories of Murder Killer is an unidentified, at large serial killer and the central antagonist of the 2003 Korean crime film success Memories of Murder. Much to Kim’s surprise, the professional-wrestling-style dropkick by Song that sends the former rolling down a hill was unplanned and full-contact. Bong avoided rehearsals to preserve the awkwardness between some characters, and that initial encounter, a fight, was the very first time the performers worked together.
